THE ON MISSION CHURCH NETWORK CHURCH-WIDE EVENTS

Special events targeted to the entire church family for the purpose of raising the level of mission awareness.  We want to help lead church leaders in discovering existing opportunities for church-wide mission awareness within a variety of settings.  Existing opportunities include worship, fellowships, recreation and sporting events, camps and retreats, seasonal emphases, internet, promotion of existing printed mission awareness materials, and other opportunities as they relate to age levels participating in total or segments of church life.

Missionary Prayer Trail
Create an outdoor or indoor prayer trail to help members pray for missionaries and to raise awareness of national and international missions. Incorporate a Prayer Trail into a regular church program (a Wednesday night activity, for example) or into a special camp outing. The possibilities are endless. Suggested ideas:

  • Select stops along a hiking trail for Prayer stops
  • Select stops in and/or around your church for Prayer Stops
  • During a mission fair, include Prayer trail booths/stops around the room

What is a Global Walk Around?

In a fun and festive atmosphere, a Missions Walk Around enables participants to experience a small, however important, part of the on mission enterprise.

It's that simple, and it's that complex.  A missions Walk Around meets the needs of those who learn in small bits.  Some people learn more easily in short-term information including how Southern Baptists partner in being on mission throughout the world.  (If there are members in your church who do not participate in mission education programs, this is a prime opportunity to provide information that they may be missing.)

The main elements of a Missions Walk Around include:

  • Stops with displays and opportunities for dialogue with missionaries, mission volunteers serving locally, within your state, internationally, and North America.
  • Interactive learning experiences at each stop.
  • Showcasing opportunities for participants to be on mission through volunteerism, and other partnering.
  • Festive Decorations
  • Foods and fun representing different cultures.
